Abstract

The present study is based on three short case studies comparing a German and a Hungarian media text on the topic of migration. It aims to demonstrate the applicability of linguistic discourse analysis in language teaching. The short studies focus on three diverse discourse linguistic aspects of the two texts: keywords on the level of the lexical units, metaphors on the propositional level, and epistemic features on the level of discourse positions. The study finishes with remarks on the applicability of the results in the teaching of German as a foreign language in higher education.
